Elon Musk Wants To Send Ship To Mars By 2024 Elon Musk believes his SpaceX program could send a ship to Mars by the year 2024. Musk’s company recently launched its first successful manned spaceflight, and is working on a new Starship capable of making the Mars trek. His projection is based on the projected ‘window’ for a Mars flight, which ilnes up roughly once every two years based on the positioning of Earth and Mars in the solar system.  The next ‘window’ happens in 2022, and again in 2024. Previously, Musk has said he hopes to build a Mars colony one day.
