Searchers find possible part of missing Alaska plane
JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – The owners of an air ambulance that went missing in Alaska say searchers believe they have located part of the aircraft about 600 feet underwater.
The Juneau Empire reports searchers using sonar technology found an object that’s about the size of the aircraft within a mile of the beacon signal from the plane’s cockpit voice recorder in Frederick Sound in the southeast.
Guardian Flight Senior Vice President of Operations Randy Lyman says the object is possibly 25 feet long and up to 8 feet wide.
The King Air 200 disappeared Jan. 29 while on the way to pick up a patient in the southeast community of Kake.
The pilot, flight nurse and flight paramedic were on board.
